Building the Forecast: Why Our Own Website Is Our First Client

Angela Herman

Every agency faces a version of the same question: where’s the work you did for yourself? Your portfolio speaks for your clients. Almost nothing speaks for you.

At Herman Brand Lab, our answer is this website. Before we had external clients, we had a methodology and a brand to test it against. We were, in the most literal sense of the order of events, our own first client.

Prediction Without Proof Is Opinion

We publish forecasts. Color Trajectory™ maps how brand color will move across years, not seasons — where the optimism arc bends, which hues read as confidence and which read as noise. That’s a serious claim. Serious claims deserve skin in the game.

So we did what a forecaster should do before asking anyone to pay for the forecast: we stood inside it. Our brand palette isn’t a design preference. It’s a position on where brand color is heading. The colors you’re looking at on this page are the ones our own methodology says will hold their ground while louder palettes age out of meaning. The restraint in this site isn’t an aesthetic mood. It’s the forecast, applied.

Practicing before preaching isn’t modesty. It’s the only way to know if the forecast holds weight.

What We Chose to Look Like

When we translated the forecast into our own identity, the decisions wrote themselves — which is how you know a methodology is doing its job instead of decorating opinions.

We chose hues with proven patience over hues that perform on launch day. We chose restraint where the market still rewards saturation. We built motion that behaves like temperament — composed, unhurried, deliberate — because our forecast says composure is where credibility is moving. And we built privacy in from the first structural decision, not bolted on at the end, because trust isn’t a feature. It’s a foundation, or it’s theater.

Every one of those choices could have gone the other way. Loud would have been easier. Fast and saturated would have gotten attention. But attention is not the same as belief, and we’re building for the years where belief is the scarce asset.

The Site Is the Evidence

Here’s the part that matters to you as a reader: this position is falsifiable, and we keep it honest.

As the years our forecast covers arrive, this site either ages well or it doesn’t. If our palette drifts into datedness while we insist the methodology works, you’ll be able to see it happen in public. We revisit our own work at forecast checkpoints — not to redecorate, but to verify that the trajectory we published is the trajectory that arrived. The record of that checking lives in how this site evolves. Watch it. That’s the point.

An agency that won’t live inside its own recommendations is telling you something. We’d rather tell you this instead: our first client took the medicine, and the patient is walking around in public.

The Color Trajectory™ forecast that shaped this site is the foundation of every engagement at Herman Brand Lab. If you want to know where your brand’s colors are headed — before the market decides for you — start with a Discovery call.

We revisit this forecast at quarterly intervals. Forecast methodology published: July 2026.
